John A. DeGasperis, a graduate of Kingston High School, received his Associate in Science from SUNY Ulster. He transferred to SUNY Albany where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. John worked for a fortune 500 hundred company before deciding to study law at Albany Law School. He graduated law school with honors and obtained his juris doctorate.
John A. DeGasperis is a law partner at Basch & Keegan LLP, in Kingston, New York. He focuses his practice on personal injury and medical malpractice cases. He has earned the respect of his community having earned many accolades for his past successes. In 2021, he earned the title of "Best Lawyer in the Hudson Valley" by the readers of Chronogram Magazine. He has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 attorney, and he is a SuperLawyers' Rising Star. He serves as a board member of the Ulster County Bar Association; Chair of the Ulster County Courthouse Facilities Committee; and Member of the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division Third Judicial Department's Committee on Character and Fitness.
Mr. DeGasperis serves as a board member for the Ulster County Community College Foundation, and is a President’s Challenge Scholarship sponsor, which assists first-generation college-bound students from Ulster County with overcoming the financial barriers associated with attending college. He is in SUNY Ulster’s Alumni Hall of Fame. He currently chairs the Alumni Committee, and he also serves on the nominating committee.
