Julianne Swartz is a cross-disciplinary artist who employs light, sound, objected (created, found, manufactured), and photography to create events and experiences that defy corporeal expectation.
Often exploring dualities such as gravity and weightlessness, visibility and invisibility, interior and exteriority, the artist grapples with the question of our relationship to our bodies, each other and our surroundings.

Ms. Swartz holds an MFA in Sculpture from Bard College and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors.
She has shown in such prestigious venues as the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA’s PS1 Museum, and recently created a commissioned installation for Manhattan’s High Line Park.
She resides in Marbletown, New York.
