How To Apply


For entering, returning and transferring students, the scholarship process begins with an application. A selection committee will review all of the applications submitted to determine which scholarships each applicant is eligible for based on the information provided. Please do not specify a specific scholarship on your application. There are several Scholarships that do require a 'Special Application'. (See below.)

Entering Students

To be eligible for an entering scholarship you must have completed less than 12 credit hours and be formally matriculated into a program of study at SUNY Ulster by July 31, 2013.

Complete and submit an application prior to the deadline or contact Lucia Pecore (pecorel@sunyulster.edu) 845.687.5022.

Returning Students

To be eligible for returning scholarships you must have completed 12 credits at SUNY Ulster by May 31, 2013 and plan to enroll for classes during the Fall 2013-Spring 2014 academic year.

Complete and submit an application prior to the deadline.

Transferring Students

To be eligible for transferring scholarships you must have completed 60 credit hours, of which 35 credits must have been completed at SUNY Ulster by May 31, 2013 and you must plan to transfer to a four year college during the Fall 2013-Spring 2014 academic year.

Essay Suggestions

A one page typed and signed essay must be submitted with the returning and transferring application. The essay should be not more than one page and should include

  1. Why you chose your major
  2. What your career goals are
  3. Description of your volunteer work, community service or campus activities and
  4. How a scholarship would be helpful to you to pay for your education

One general application is used for the scholarship selection process, except for the following scholarships that require a specific application. Click on the scholarship below to view a broader description and link to the application.

Award Notification

All general scholarship applicants will receive a letter in April. Recipients are required to write thank you letters to their donors and attend a scholarship award ceremony and reception.

  • The awards ceremony for entering, returning and transferring recipients is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 pm in the Quimby Theater on the Stone Ridge Campus.
  • Special Nursing Scholarship Awards will be recognized at the Nursing Pinning Ceremony on May 16.
  • The awards ceremony for College Scholars will be held Wednesday, September 4 at 1:00 pm in the College Lounge.
