Personal Development

Joining student clubs and organizations gives you the opportunity to meet a diverse population of people that allow you to expand your thinking and interest.  With more than 20 Student Clubs to choose from, it is easy to meet friends and be part of a group that shares your same interest in activities, academics, curriculum, governance or other special areas.

Leadership Skills

Joining a club or organization allows you to develop leadership skills within an environment of your peers. Organized and run by students like you along with a faculty advisor, these clubs offer flexible meeting times to find that special place that will make you feel right at home. Clubs offer opportunities to build relationships with the community through volunteering, field trips and networking opportunities.

Black Student Union (BSU)

The Black Student Union (BSU) aims to create a safe space for Black students, promote awareness and understanding of Black culture and history, empower students through leadership development, advocate for their needs on campus, and foster a sense of community.  The mission is to uplift, unite, educate, and empower students on campus.

Business Club 

The SUNY Ulster Business Club presents an opportunity for SUNY Ulster students to experience and learn from various business-related activities. With speakers, club trips, club events, and networking opportunities, the SUNY Ulster Business Club is the ideal place for any student pursuing a career in any field.

Creative Writing Club

The Creative Writing Club meets to read, discuss, and workshop a variety of our own creative pieces - from short stories and plays to poetry. We encourage writers to bring original work for friendly discussion and feedback. The Club members also work to produce a small publication each semester. This publication is student led, student created, and student driven.

DREAM (Disability Rights, Education Activism, and Mentoring)

DREAM, also known as Disability Rights, Education, Activism and Mentoring is a nationwide community created for students with disabilities.

Environmental Club

The Environmental is a group of thoughtful students committed to promoting environmental awareness in the campus community. This club provides students with the opportunity to discuss environmental issues and partner with local organizations to take part in community service to improve the environment and raise environmental awareness both on and off campus.

eSPORTS Club

The eSports Club provides a competitive, yet friendly, video game-based environment for members to practice, build relationships, communicate and work as a team through playing video games. The club hosts at least one fundraiser competition per semester that anybody can enter to play.

Filmmaking Club

The SUNY Ulster filmmaking club aims to create three to five short films by the end of the semester and have them premier on campus. The club will allow students to network amongst themselves, learn teamwork skills and techniques from local industry professionals and gain a wealth of on set experience. The club will meet once a week to plan out shoots but be communicating constantly through messages and film shoots.

Intersectional Feminism Club

The club intends to provide a space for discussions of feminism and its real world applications. While the main mindset will center the third and fourth waves of feminism (ensuring all are welcome, including men, queer people, POC, and others who contribute to the discussion), the club also hopes to dive into feminist history and how feminism relates to issues that may not be inherently considered feminist. Discussions, while important, are not the sole activity of the group; events, training, skill development, community building, and multi-club collaboration are also major goals. The club is being created for three reasons:

1. student interest

2. the desire for safe spaces like this in an uncertain political climate, and

3. the desire to increase student engagement and campus presence (potentially including community outreach). It will be planned and led by five E-Board members, although all members will have a say in activities.

LGBTQ+

The LGBTQ Association & Allies club, will work and fundraise together to promote Education, Advocacy, Awareness, Inclusivity, health and wellness, through engaging activities and group meetings.

Nursing Club

The SUNY Ulster Nursing Club is open to all nursing students on the SUNY Ulster campus in Stone Ridge, NY. We are dedicated to education, volunteerism and improving our community. We also provide a community for incoming nursing students to acclimate to the rigors of nursing school.

Phi Theta Kappa

SUNY Ulster’s Alpha Rho Delta Chapter is the international honor society for community college students. Membership is lifelong and offers numerous benefits including scholarships, letters of recommendation, and recognition of academic prestige.

To be eligible for membership:

• You must be enrolled and matriculated at SUNY Ulster

• You must have completed at least 12 academic credits that may be applied to an associate degree or certificate program as a full-time or part time student

• You must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher

Quran Coalition

Mission: The Quran Coalition is a welcoming space for all to connect, learn, and share perspectives. Our goal is to destigmatize Islam on campus through open events and dialogue—not to convert or spread religion, but to promote understanding, tolerance, and honest conversation. This coalition offers a respectful platform for gathering, exchanging ideas,and dispelling misconceptions about Islam

Raices Unidas

Raices Unidas would like to bring people together to honor Hispanic Heritage, while building strong identities and creating a positive change within SUNY Ulster. We want to organize events and provide people with new knowledge of the many different Hispanic backgrounds that unites us.

Student Engagement Board (SEB)

The Student Engagement Board plans educational, cultural, and fun programming throughout the year. Events include Welcome Week, Winter Wonderland, Spring Fling, and DeStress Fest.

Student Government Organization (SGO)

The Student Government Organization maintains a cooperative relationship among students, faculty, staff, and the outside community and works to ensure that the social needs and responsibilities of students are being met.

SUAA (SUNY Ulster Art Association/Fine Arts) 

Students in SUAA (SUNY Ulster Art Association Fine Arts Club) come together for studio projects, critiques, zines, and more!

SUNY Ulster Students For Life 

Students For Life promotes human life, supports pregnant and parenting students, and educates peers on life issues. Students For Life is a chapter of Students for Life of America.

Veterans/Military Club

The SUNY Ulster Veterans/Military Club is a great opportunity for veterans, current service members and immediate dependents to bond and share experiences. The club provides a stress free environment for students to plan and enjoy fun filled experiences while continuing to support the education process.

Veterinary Technicians Club (Vet Tech)

Student Chapter of the New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians , Founded in 2003 the Veterinary Technology Club at SUNY Ulster promotes awareness of and appreciation for Licensed Veterinary Technicians. The Vet Tech Club accomplishes this mission through onsite and offsite education programs. These programs emphasize animal education, animal health, animal husbandry, animal welfare and the current status of Veterinary Technology in New York State.
