Join us for an assortment of camps and academies for various interests and ages that are sure to keep your child/teen entertained. For over 25 years our missions have been to provide campers with a fun, learning, creative and safe environment as well as a place to meet new friends and create treasured memories. It is also a place to gain knowledge for future college or career choices. Our creative and energetic faculty, coaches, students, local teachers and outside private groups will share their expertise and love for teaching with our campers as they guide them through new and returning camps and academies.
Registering for any of these is easy when you use our online registration process. Upon receipt of your application, a confirmation email is sent to you. This email also contains links to required health forms that must be received before the start of camp.

Ages 11-15

This workshop is ideal for high school or college students wanting to develop or strengthen their figure drawing and painting skills and fine/commercial art-based portfolio. You are introduced to life drawing and painting through an investigation of foundation/skill building principles, form construction and anatomy. The objective is to capture an accurate, 3-dimensional representation of the human form through observation. Daily lectures and demonstrations will introduce concepts and subject matter. An official SUNY Ulster sketchbook will be provided to you. Educational Leader: Christopher Seubert is a SUNY Ulster Instructor and local artist. He will be assisted by SUNY Ulster Fine Art students.

Ages 8-15

In this camp, you will learn how to create unique, one of a kind fabric that can be used to create fashion pieces or accessories. Students will learn different techniques to dye and design their own yardage of fabric. They will use various printmaking and hand dyeing techniques such as marbling, shibori, and eco dye. Students will also learn some basic sewing skills and hand sewn embellishment like Boro stitching. Students will create an individual project with their fabric, or use it to create with during the second week of camp. No previous knowledge of sewing or printmaking is required. Educational Leader: Michelle Moore, SUNY Ulster Fine Art Program alumna, FIT Textile/Surface Design Alumna,Fine Arts Instructor SUNY Ulster and owner of Michelle Moore Designs,surface pattern designer company. Ages 8-15

Are you interested in fashion or plan to be a fashion designer, this is the camp for you! Spend time in a fully equipped sewing lab to learn sewing and basic construction while creating an original project. You will also spend time in the arts studio having a Project Runway experience with design challenges, a team and a deadline. Learn how to construct the fashion figure plus how to draw and design skirts, blouses, dresses and pants. No previous knowledge of sewing or drawing is required. (1:5 instructor-to-camper ratio). Educational Leader: Calista Emerton, SUNY Ulster Fashion graduate and owner of Cali Bee childrens wear, SUNY Ulster Continuing Education Instructor. Materials fee: $20, payable in camp.

Ages 11-15

This workshop is ideal for high school or college students wanting to develop or strengthen their printmaking skills and portfolio. During the week, you will have the opportunity to explore monoprinting, block printing and etching. An official SUNY Ulster sketchbook will be provided to you and as an added benefit, all materials will be non-toxic. Educational Leader: Christopher Seubert is a SUNY Ulster Instructor and local artist. He will be assisted by SUNY Ulster Fine Art students.

Recycle Arts & Mixed Media Camp
Ages 8-15

Let us make ECO – logical art as a green solution. Explore innovative ways to create up cycled art, creatively recycling, recreating and reusing items of all kinds from old, new to natural elements. Learn a variety of mixed media techniques throughout the week that are non-toxic to incorporate into the recycle art creations to take home. This camp encourages creative solutions by rethinking our collective carbon footprint through the tools of creating eco art, all skill levels invited.

Educational Leader: Star Nigro is a local interdisciplinary artist, professional photographer and program director of My Kingston Kids. Materials fee: $20, payable in camp

All skill and experience levels, both boys and girls, will focus on the development of individual ball skills, how and when to use these new skills in game situations and the importance of team play while having fun.

Let your child be part of a successful Chess Academy. Chess Wizards is offering specifically designed classes that cater to all levels of chess ability. Each child is challenged by fun games and lessons from real Wizard teachers. Our academy is so successful because our approach is very unique. Classes and lessons are based around our original, fun, and high-energy Chess Wizards curriculum. Regardless of a child’s ability, Chess Wizards makes chess fun for all!
