SOC at SUNY Ulster
A Servicemembers Opportunity College

Serving the Voluntary Education Needs of the Military Services

A Civilian Military Partnership

Welcome to SUNY Ulster, a proud member of SOC, the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges. SOC is a consortium of national higher education associations functioning in cooperation with the Department of Defense (DOD), and the Military Services, including the National Guard and the Coast Guard, to help meet the voluntary higher education needs of servicemembers and their families.

You Can:

  • Earn an Associate's Degree online or on campus while in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard, or Coast Guard. (Click here to view our many Degree Prgrams.)
  • Enroll in a college concurrently with enlistment in the Army or Army Reserve through the Concurrent Admissions Program (CONAP). (Click here for more information about CONAP)
  • Earn college credit for evaluated military training and programs. (Click here for more about Alternate Modes for Earning College Credit.)

By enrolling you are assured of the following:

  • SUNY Ulster is your "home" college. If you move to a new duty station, courses may be transferred back to SUNY Ulster toward a degree program.
  • SUNY Ulster will enter into a Student Agreement that acts as a contract-for-degree between you and the College, and includes a degree plan that evaluates all prior learning and lists academic requirements to be fulfilled. SUNY Ulster awards the degree upon completion.
  • Guaranteed transferability of college credits within curriculum areas between participating colleges as well as the opportunity to take advantage of the many transfer agreements that SUNY Ulster has developed with four year colleges and universities. (Click here for information on our Articulation Agreements.)
