Program Description
Students who complete this program earn an Associate in Science degree. The program is designed for students who plan careers in journalism or videography, as well as public relations or advertising, and intend to transfer to a four-year college offering the baccalaureate degree. The program provides a liberal arts base and stresses the performance aspects of media skills. Students may transfer to a wide variety of four-year institutions and comparable programs. Special arrangements to expedite transfer have been made with a number of SUNY and private colleges.
Employment Potential
Graduates of the program who then earn a baccalaureate or higher level degree will qualify for such positions as print or broadcast journalists, public relations consultants, or advertising account executives.

Developmental Assistance Available
For students who do not meet basic reading and math requirements, or who have other learning issues, extra assistance is readily available through SUNY Ulster's Learning Center, Times Square math lab, the Writing Center, the Peer and Friend Tutor Program, and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors.
