Find Literary Criticism in Books:
To find books with criticism and interpretation of an author's work, use Catalist, SUNY Ulster's Online Catalog. Enter the author's name and the term criticism or try entering the author's name and title of a specific work. Books containing critical essays may be borrowed from the library for 3 weeks.

LOCATE ARTICLES IN PROFESSIONAL JOURNALS

How To Search:
Criticism of short stories, poetry and novels is published in many journals, magazines and newspapers. Search the following databases. Enter the title of the work and the term criticism or enter the author's name, the title of the work and the term criticism.

Examples of Search Terms:

Charlotte Perkins Gilman Yellow Wallpaper criticism

Where To Search:

DATABASES WHICH CONTAIN LITERARY CRITICISM

Many of the articles in these databases are full text (the entire article is available online). The titles of other articles will be listed (cited) and one can find copies of these articles in journals available in the library. The library can also obtain copies of articles in magazines and journals which the library does not subscribe to through the interlibrary loan system (ILL).
