Research Assistance
Reference librarians are available whenever the library is
open to answer your questions, in person or by telephone.
If you need in-depth assistance and want to work with a librarian
by telephone, it's a good idea to schedule an appointment.
The number at the reference desk is 845-687-5208.
Help is also available via email.

Selected Resources by Subject
Librarians have prepared lists of books, journals, databases and web sites organized by subject. This would be a good place to start a project.

Accessing Databases from Home
The library subscribes to many databases that you can search from off-campus. Many of these databases include full-text articles. Use the link below to view a list of the databases available. Select the database you want to search from the list, then follow the instructions on the login form to access the data.

Electronic Reserves
Use E-Res to locate electronic documents posted by your instructor. The required password is provided by the instructor.

Requesting Books in SUNY Ulster's Collection and Beyond
Search Catalist, SUNY Ulster's Online Catalog database to determine what books, magazines and journals our library owns. Since you are participating in a "distance education course," meaning you might never visit the SUNY Ulster campus or library, we will mail you materials. Please call 845-687-5208 for assistance.
If you find that the SUNY Ulster library does not have the material you need, search the SUNYConnect Union Catalog. This database contains the holdings of SUNY Libraries and is designed to allow direct requests by students while searching the catalog.
If the material is not available in the SUNYConnect database, call the Reference Desk at 845-687-5208 to make your request, or enter the vital information (title, publisher, author etc.), in the Electronic Interlibrary Loan Form. This service, available to current Ulster students, faculty and staff, is especially useful to distance students who do not attend classes on the Stone Ridge Campus.
It will take approximately one week for you to receive the requested material.

Information Literacy - Locating Quality Information
Locating information for a project can be challenging.
The Information
Literacy Course (LIB 111) web site will give you an
idea of what's covered in the course. You can use the readings
and exercises from site for extra practice or review.
The site includes a page by page index that will help you locate a specific topic.
