General Information for Faculty
Books & Periodicals
Search Catalist, SUNY Ulster's Online Catalog to determine what books, magazines, and journals the library owns. Books will be loaned for the semester except McNaughton books (3 weeks).
The McNaughton Collection contains new and best-selling fiction and non-fiction titles located on the first floor. Additions are made on a monthly basis.

Closed Reserve
Instructors may place books, articles and other materials on closed reserve in the library for the use of students in their classes. The instructor may specify the length of time, in hours or days, that material may be loaned. Unless otherwise specified, materials are kept on closed reserve for one semester and then returned to the library stacks or the instructor, depending on who owns the material.
Copyright
A good source of information about fair use of copyrighted works and obtaining permission to use them is available online at http:www.cetus.org/fairindex.html. The reference staff is available to help locate further information.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
If SUNY Ulster does not have the books and/or articles which you need, we may obtain this material for you through interlibrary loan (ILL). Please ask the reference librarians for ILL request forms or use the electronic ILL form. It usually takes 7-14 days to receive items.
Library Cards
Your SUNYCard is your library card. ID cards may be obtained from Security in HAS 106.
Media Room
The Library's multimedia viewing room is equipped with an LCD projector. One computer with a hookup to the Internet, a cable television feed with approximately 50 channels, including the History Channel, C-Span, CNN and HBO, and a combination VCR/DVD player, each can be connected to the LCD projector for on-screen viewing. The Media Room is an excellent place to screen Films On Demand, a database of thousands of streaming videos covering a wide array of subjects, and Theatre in Video, which includes more than 250 full-length plays. Call the Circulation Desk (x5213) to make a reservation for this room.
