SUNY Ulster - Mission Statement

Mission Statement

The Macdonald De Witt Library supports the mission of SUNY Ulster by providing information resources and services to students in support of the current and anticipated instructional program of the college. The library also serves as an information resource for faculty, staff, and the public in the local community.

The library’s mission is to:

Select, acquire, organize and maintain the information resources in all formats that best support the needs of the college community and to provide access to resources beyond the immediate collection through interlibrary loan and electronic retrieval systems.

Promote the use of the library and to educate users to locate, evaluate and use information effectively as students and as life-long learners.

Maintain a trained staff, provide quality service, offer assistance and instruction in the use of the library.

Provide a location for intellectual exchange, physical and electronic access to information, and an environment conducive to study and research.

Promote and provide support for cultural, literary and arts programming on campus.
