On Friday, July 13, Brian Denton of Pleasant Valley and Francis Gillespie of Kingston were the first recipients of the Ulster County Deputy Sheriffs’ Police Benevolent Association scholarship through the Ulster Community College Foundation, Inc. Two recipients are selected from graduates of the Police Basic Training program who have maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and plan to pursue a career in law enforcement.
