This is an introductory course to American Sign Language. Emphasis will be placed on learning the manual alphabet, vocabulary building and simple dialog with each other. The course will also explore deaf culture, folklore and history. You will receive 1.5 CEU's upon completion of the course.
Intro to American Sign Language Level II is a continuation of the ASL basic course of study (CFA 701). Students will be exploring American Sign Language in more depth by increasing vocabulary and language structure skills. Along with discovering the legends that have pioneered the Deaf World, students will embrace Deaf folklore. You will receive 1.5 CEU's upon completion of the course. Prerequisite: ASL Level I or beginning Sign Language skills.
This course builds on the skills learned in CFA 892, ESL - Level III. There will be a review of basic grammatical concepts and a move to more advanced grammatical concepts. There will be an emphasis placed on increasing vocabulary and communication skill in the English Language through more reading, more conversation and more practical exercises.
Learn basic vocabulary and communication skills in this introductory English language class. Improve your speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and be better prepared for the workplace or higher-level classes. Instruction is in English.
You will receive 1.8 CEU's upon completion of the course.
Continue to improve your English skills in this follow-up to ESL - Level I (CFA 890). The focus of this class will be to provide students with additional instruction and practice in both oral and written communication skills, with special attention paid to the pronunciation of English sounds and words. Students who have completed ESL - Level I or have basic English competence are welcome. Instruction is in English.
You will receive 1.8 CEU's upon completion of the course. NOTE: Instructor interview is required unless ESL Level I was completed.
This course will help students strengthen their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This level prepares students to deal with daily activities in English as they continue to advance in the learning of vocabulary and structures. Level III students must have completed ESL I and II, or be placed at this level according to their knowledge of English.

This class is a continuation of the Conversation and Grammar course (CFA 895). It is designed to build on the skills learned in the previous class. You will continue to improve your English skills and feel more confident speaking at work and participating in the community. Come and practice conversation and learn more advanced grammar in a safe and friendly environment. You will receive 1.8 CEU's upon completion of the course.
