College for Kids and Teens offers a variety of noncredit courses, primarily in the spring and fall semesters, for teens and children, with or without their parent(s) enrolling in the course. Courses are designed for academic improvement and personal enrichment.
Types of courses include: test preparation, fitness, sports, and language. Classes are conveniently scheduled for afternoons, evenings and weekends at the Stone Ridge campus or the Business Resource Center in Kingston. NOTE: Some classes meet at other facilities. When this happens, the location will be noted in the course description.

It's Your Move! Join this unforgettable journey into the world of chess. You can experience the excitement of becoming a live chess piece. Explore the meaning, history, and reasoning behind the chess moves and pieces. You will gain the confidence to compete in a mini-tournament by learning how to correctly move the chess pieces around the board. Learning chess can develop patience, aid in better problem solving, and develop better planning skills. Chess requires foresight - seeing how each and every move influences the outcome - which you will learn to develop. Expect surprises during your training!!! Do not be left behind, come on this adventure of a lifetime! Certificates of achievement will be awarded.
This camp is co-ed for ages 8-10.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Please bring a chess set to camp or purchase one for $8 in camp.

Girls of all shapes and sizes, learn how to go from disliking yourself to loving yourself without resorting to interventions like extreme or fad diets. Don't let your weight rob you of your self-confidence and keep you from fulfilling your dreams. Learn how to feel graceful and enjoy moving like a dancer. You will dance every day and at the end of the week you will have learned a dance for a private dance celebration. NOTE: No dance experience necessary. Everyone will find the dancer within themselves.

Art is not just something to hang on the wall, it can be what is hanging in your closet, or hanging around your neck? This week you will concentrate on making art that you can wear such as tie-dye t-shirts and anything else you bring. You will make your own beads out of paper and Sculpey to create fancy jewelry. You will also make duct tape wallets and purses as well as weave your own bag! Learn about real fashion design, and do some drawings like the pros! There will be a fashion show at the end of this fantastic week for parents/guardians to enjoy!

Bam! Zing! Crash! Do you ever wish you had super powers or maybe that you could draw characters with super powers? Maybe you already have a character and you want to learn how to work with it? This week you will draw some existing cartoons, and make up our own. You will make comic strips and put them together into your own comic book. Learn about animation and make real animation cells! Make large stand-ups of your characters, and even make small sculptures of some of your creations. Do not forget your cape and x-ray vision!

How do artists create portraits? Does the artist have to be in the painting to make it a self portrait? In this expressive camp you will study the artwork and styles of Van Gogh, Picasso, Rembrandt, Cassat, Degas, and many others to learn about their methods. Learn about the proportions of the face and full body and about yourself as an artist. Create a number of portraits and self portraits in many mediums in your own inventive style. Join us this week and learn how to express yourself in portraits!

Do you like to make people laugh? Do you enjoy having fun? Be a clown! Be a magician! Be a comedy puppeteer! You will learn to design and apply your own clown or magician performance character, costume and make up to your performance comedy skits. You will be trying your hands at juggling, mime, magic tricks, and slight of hand, balloon twisting, ventriloquism and puppetry.
This camp is co-ed for ages 7-14.
MATERIALS FEE: $30 payable to instructor on the first day of camp.
Learn the basics of how to use your camera then work in Photoshop to create exciting digital art projects with the images you take. You will play with fun filters, goofy cartoon faces, and wacky backgrounds. At the end of camp, you will take home a portfolio of your digital art to share with your friends. This camp covers digital photography basics with on site outdoor shooting, importing images, cropping and sharpening, color correction and red eye, landscape photo merge, collage, filters, layers, backgrounds and techniques the pro's use.
This camp is co-ed for ages 9-12.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Please bring a digital camera with USB connecting cable, a flash drive, and a blank CD.
LUNCH: Please bring a snack and lunch that require no refrigeration.
Campers of all skill levels will learn both the offensive and defensive fundamentals of basketball including court awareness, shooting techniques, dribbling, rebounding, and passing. This camp will have a strong focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, developing leadership skills, wellness, and nutritional values. Competitive games will be an integral part of your camp experience. The fundamentals learned at this basketball camp will help you to develop good habits both on and off the court. All campers are expected to come with the right attitude and ready to work hard in order to improve. Together with an experienced and dedicated staff, you will learn all aspects of the game of basketball.
This camp is co-ed for ages 8-15.
DRESS: Basketball attire (shorts, t-shirt/jersey, basketball sneakers).
LUNCH: Please bring a lunch that requires no refrigeration, snacks, and a water bottle.
The goal is to teach you to become a better player regardless of your experience, create a love of the game and HAVE FUN. Beginning players are instructed in basics. Advanced players are provided an opportunity to take part in a functional training program where the challenges are greater. In this co-ed camp all players are instructed in individual techniques and tactics. Through the use of small-sided games, ?street soccer?, tournament play and sound tactical training all aspects of the beautiful game are covered. Matches are played for fun while giving coaches an opportunity to evaluate your progress. Included in the camp will be the use of the "Coerver Training" method.
This camp is co-ed for ages 4-6.
DRESS AND GEAR: Please arrive dressed to play. Bring sneakers, soccer shoes (spikes), a water bottle, topical insect repellent and topical sun block.

Due to community demand, SUNY Ulster’s Continuing and Professional Education Department has expanded its sustainability and green technology course offerings for the spring and summer.
The Citizen Police Academy, a new community based resource is offering a course that will begin on May 28 and run through July 16 at the Business Resource Center on Ulster Avenue in Kingston.
