Driver Education
SUNY Ulster's Driver Education clases are offered in six locations: Kingston, Accord, New Paltz, Wallkill, Marlboro and Ellenville.
The driver-training program, which is approved by the NYS Education Department Traffic Safety Unit and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is a 48-hour course. Included are 24 hours of in-car instruction (six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, 18 hours of in-car observation), and 24 hours of classroom training, and orientation.
Upon completion, you will receive a certificate, which may allow you a reduction in your insurance. This program is administered in cooperation with an area auto school.
This is a 32 session course, and the total cost is $449.00 for the Summer course, and $449 for the Fall and Spring courses.

DRIVER EDUCATION COURSES
Note:
At Orientation, all students will receive an overview of the Driver Education Program.
Students will be assigned their driving times and instructed where to meet for lecture and driving lessons.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the orientation session.
REGISTRATION
To register:
- You must be 16 years of age
- You must possess
a NYS learner's permit
- You must have completed a Registration/Application/Consent
