Dr. Ide Pang Katims
Dr. Ide Pang Katims has been described as a “gifted scholar and nurse and a dedicated and caring community leader” with a “deep commitment to the improvement of the lives of others.” A practicing registered nurse and nurse educator, she is currently an associate professor and co-chair of the SUNY New Paltz Department of Nursing. Her scholarly writing includes articles in professional nursing journals and papers presented at numerous conferences.
Ide and her late husband, Professor Richard Katims, established a scholarship at SUNY Ulster to encourage a student working for human rights, world peace, the environment or against global hunger and poverty. She has served on the SUNY Affirmative Action Grievance Panel, the Ulster County Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect and as a member of the Board of Education for the Onteora School District. She is also active in Mediation Matters of Albany and the Dispute Resolution Center in Kingston.
Dr. Ide Pang Katims received her Ph.D. from the School of Nursing at Adelphi University. She and her son reside in Port Ewen.
