David Blakely
David Blakely was the first Junior College student to be named All-American. Upon his graduation, he was the first SUNY Ulster Athlete of the Year who was also named SUNY Ulster’s Scholar-Athlete. Dave's continued athletic prowess has made him a three-time Club Champion at Wiltwyck Golf Club and a solid contender in golf tournaments throughout the region.
Each year, Dave contributes his time and energy to organizing and volunteering at the Ulster Community College Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament, The Bob Brown Scramble. Funds from this tournament are distributed by the Foundation to the College athletic department that support much-needed purchases of equipment and supplies to enable SUNY Ulster's teams to be competitive with colleges in their divisions.
In addition to the Ulster Foundation Tournament, Blakely also contributes his time as a member of the Wiltwyck Pro-Am Golf Tournament Committee, which raises funds that support the programs and services of the YMCA.
A member of the Ulster Community College Foundation Board for more than 10 years, David has served as Foundation Treasurer since 1996. Under his guidance Foundation assets have grown to exceed $3 million and all budgeting and accounting procedures have been re-structured and fully computerized in order to link account information with donor records. In 1998, Dave led the Finance Committee in a thorough review of asset management options and over a nine month period evaluated and responded to management proposals. He guided the review and revision of the Foundation's investment policy and an annual review and evaluation of asset managemnet outcomes.
Dave received his B.S. in accounting from SUNY Albany and is the Operations Manager at KOSCO, a division of the Getty Petroleum Corporation. He is married to the former Diane Battaglia and lives in Hurley. They have two grown children, David and Christina. Blakely is a member of the Board of Directors of the Wiltwyck Golf club where he has served as Treasurer for three years. In January 2003, he became President of that board.
It is with pride and appreciation that SUNY Ulster recognizes Dave as a distinguished member of the Alumni Hall of Fame.
