Dear New Student,
Congratulations on choosing SUNY Ulster to (start OR continue) your college education! As a SUNY Ulster graduate, I can say with absolute confidence that starting here and then transferring to a four-year university was one of the best decisions I ever made.
You’re about to begin a new venture – an adventure, really – which will be exciting and exhilarating and could, at times, seem overwhelming. Many students may feel unsure at this stage, which is completely understandable. Questions such as “How do I change or choose my major?” “Where do I find tutoring assistance?” “Will I fit in?” and “How do I balance studying, working and socializing?” are all areas that college students want to know about. That’s why we’ve created Campus Connect, an introduction to college, to SUNY Ulster, and to campus life here.
Campus Connect is not led by employees or staff, but by SUNY Ulster students – our Campus Connect Leaders-- who have been in your shoes and represent the diversity of our students. Some came to SUNY Ulster right after high school or as a transfer student from another college. Other Campus Connect Leaders worked for some time before beginning college and came to SUNY Ulster to advance and enhance their lives and careers. Some are attending full time, and others are attending part time. Whatever their path, our student Campus Connect Leaders are eager to welcome you to campus and show you how to get the most out of your time here.
Attending Campus Connect is required of all new students, but other and better reasons to attend include enjoying a free continental breakfast and lunch, hearing from students and staff about the many college services here that help you succeed, taking home some SUNY Ulster Senator spirit wear and having fun while meeting other students.
Your college journey begins now -- not the first day of classes -- by making sure you know what’s available to help you along the way. I’m very much looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming Campus Connect Day on Friday, January 13, 2017 .
If you haven’t already registered, please let us know you’ll be attending by going to connect.sunyulster.edu.
