Dear New Student,
I am delighted to invite you to SUNY Ulster’s Campus Connect, our orientation for new students designed to introduce you to all of the resources here to help you succeed. I know you are in the registration process to select classes to create a schedule that meets your needs. However, I want to be sure that you know about Campus Connect and sign up for one of the sessions so you may benefit from all Campus Connect has to offer.
You’re about to begin a new venture – an adventure, really – which will be exciting and exhilarating and could, at times, seem overwhelming. Many students may feel unsure at this stage, which is completely understandable. Questions such as “How do I change or choose my major?” “Where do I find tutoring assistance?” “Will I fit in?” and “How do I balance studying, working and socializing?” are common to all college students. That’s why we’ve created Campus Connect, an introduction to college, to SUNY Ulster, and to campus life here.
Campus Connect is not led by employees or staff, but by SUNY Ulster students – our CampusConnect Leaders-- who have been in your shoes and represent the diversity of our students. Some came to SUNY Ulster right after high school or as a transfer student from another college. Other Campus Connect Leaders worked for some time before beginning college and came to SUNY Ulster to advance and enhance their lives and careers. Some are attending full time, and others are attending part time. Whatever their path, our student Campus Connect Leaders are eager to welcome you to campus and show you how to get the most out of your time here.
Attending Campus Connectis required of all new students, but other and better reasons to attend include enjoying a free continental breakfast and lunch while learning about the many college services here that help you succeed. Plus you’ll have fun while meeting other students.
Your college journey begins now -- not the first day of classes -- by making sure you know what’s available to help you along the way. I’m very much looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming Campus Connect Days on Tuesday July 11, Thursday August 3, and Friday August 18, 2017.
To sign up for a session, please do so by through connect.sunyulster.edu.
