Application Requirements and Checklist

To be considered for admission you must hold a recognized high school diploma or its equivalent. Then:

1. Complete the SUNY Ulster Online Application for Admission, or the SUNY Online Application for Admission. You may also request an application by writing to the SUNY Ulster Admissions Office, located in Vanderlyn Hall, VAN 101, Stone Ridge, NY, 12484, or by calling 800:724-0833 or 845: 687-5018 or 5022, or by email at admissions@sunyulster.edu.

2. Return completed application to SUNY Ulster, or to the SUNY Application Processing Center, depending on the type of application you're using.

3. Ask your high school guidance office to send an official copy of your high school transcript directly to SUNY Ulster's Admissions Office. If you graduated from high school 10 or more years ago you may substitute a copy of your high school diploma to meet this requirement. Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are recognized by SUNY Ulster, and you should contact these organizations to have them send your records directly to the college.

4. If you possess a General Equivalency Diploma, present official test results to SUNY Ulster's Admissions Office. Official GED testing results can be obtained by contacting the State Education Department in the state where the GED was administered.

5. Contact all other post-secondary institutions that you have attended and request that official copies of your transcripts be sent directly to SUNY Ulster's Admissions Office. If you are transferring credit to SUNY Ulster, you should refer to Transferring to SUNY Ulster for more information about transfer credits and residency requirements.

6. Supply documentation in accordance with New York State Public Health Law. If you were born on or after January 1, 1957, you will need to send College Health Services a completed Proof of Immunization form, documenting immunization for measles, mumps and rubella. NYS law requires that all full or part time students taking six or more credits per semester show proof of MMR immunization. If you were born before this date you are exempt from this requirement. For more information about these and other immunization requirements, contact College Health Services, SEN 139, 800:724-0833, extension 5246 or 845: 687-5246.

7. Visit the campus! Although an interview is not required for most programs, come check out our campus, hear from students and meet our faculty and staff!

8. Complete the Entering Student Assessment, which will help you select appropriate courses.

9. Make arrangements to pay for your college tuition, books and fees. If you reside in New York State, but outside of Ulster County, you will need to provide a certificate of residence to receive the in-county tuition rate at SUNY Ulster.

10. Register for the classes that meet your academic needs and goals, work schedule and other obligations you need to manage.

Additional information is available for Special Admissions Programs, such as College Scholars, Early Admissions, Honors Studies, International applicants, Joint Admissions with other SUNY schools and Readmitting applicants.

SUNY Ulster also offers an associate's degree completely online, called OASIS. Online/Distance Learning Students provides more information on the admission requirements for this program, which includes completing the Intent to Enroll form and a $250 nonrefundable enrollment fee.

Although admission is generally assured for most applicants, SUNY Ulster does not guarantee acceptance into particular programs of study. In accordance with New York State law, the College reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant when it is deemed in the best interest of the college to do so or if the College determines that the applicant does not have the ability to benefit from the College's instruction.
