Applying for Admission
If you would like to take a selected course, without enrolling in a degree, diploma or certificate programs, you may go directly to registration. If you would like to formally enroll in a program of study to earn a degree, diploma or certificate, then you need to apply to and be accepted by the College. To do this, you must hold a recognized high school diploma or its equivalent and then:
- Complete our Online Admission Application or request an application by calling 800: 724-0833 or 845: 687-5018 or 5022. The office is located in Vanderlyn Hall, Room 101 (VAN 101). This application is free of charge to submit. You also have the option of completing a SUNY Application form, listing SUNY Ulster as your college of choice. This form, and instructions on how to submit, may be obtained from SUNY Ulster's Admissions Office. There is a fee to submit this application.
- Submit your completed SUNY Ulster application online or to: Admissions Office, SUNY Ulster, Stone Ridge, NY 12484; or fax it to: (845) 687-5090.
- Request that official high school transcripts and transcripts from all other colleges you have attended are forwarded to the Admissions Office. If you possess a General Equivalency (GED) you should present the diploma to SUNY Ulster's Admissions Office and request that an official copy of the Transcript of Scores be sent directly to SUNY Ulster's Admissions Office.
- If you are a returning adult student and were graduated from high school ten or more years ago you may substitute a copy of your high school diploma to meet this requirement.
- If you are a home schooled student and want to enroll in a program of study at SUNY Ulster, you must present a GED, a diploma from a correspondence school that is recognized and registered by its own state department of education or a certificate of completion from your school district's chief administrative office.
- Send the Admissions Office Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) scores, if they are available. Although these are not required for Admission, the Admissions Office appreciates receiving them.
- If you reside in New York State, but outside of Ulster County, you will need to provide a certificate of residence to receive the in-county tuition rate at SUNY Ulster.

In addition, SUNY Ulster's Collegian Program offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take SUNY Ulster classes in their high schools and earn college credit upon completion.
Students accepted for study in degree, diploma, or certificate programs and whose academic records or Entering Student Assessment scores, or both, indicate a need to strengthen learning skills to improve their chances for success will be required to enroll in Intermediate Studies courses.
Although admission is generally assured for most applicants, SUNY Ulster does not guarantee acceptance into particular programs of study. In accordance with New York State law, the College reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant when it is deemed in the best interest of the college to do so or if the College determines that the applicant does not have the ability to benefit from the College's instruction.
